Are you a minimalist or an over the top lover of skincare products?
Either way we all want to have beautiful, healthy, flawless skin and it starts with simple routines and consistency!
Yes, beauty trends change rapidly and it may seem hard to keep up with but I wanted to share with you 10 ways you can start taking care of your skin now and reap the benefits for years to come.
1. Protect your skin from the Yakima Valley sun!
This doesn’t stop at sunscreen. Hats, sunglasses, and SPF makeup will all help to protect your skin and keep you looking your best! I recommend a mineralized sunscreen and a minimum protection of at least 30 SPF, 50 SPF is even better!
2. Be sure to choose a face wash that fits your skin type.
Dry, oily, sensitive, or combination…know that this process may take some time, trial and error. Our skin can change over time and with seasons and it’s ok to change up what we use and as our needs change.
3. Layer your products from thinnest to thickest.
Our skin is designed to keep things out but most of our skincare products have ingredients we want in. Only a few of these ingredients are small enough to penetrate our skin once applied. If you don’t use your face products in a correct order you may not see the best results possible.
4. Exfoliate 1-2 times a week.
We loose A LOT of skin cells everyday and are exposed to air pollutants on a regular basis. All of this will leave our skin looking dull so be sure to choose an exfoliate that’s gentle and right for your skin type.
5. Remove your makeup before bed.
I’m sure you’ve heard it before but I’m saying it again, WASH YOUR FACE! Having clean skin will allow your face to absorb all the great product you’ve invested in.
6. Invest in a good moisturizer and use it both day and night.
EVERYONE needs moisturizer. They say the best time to apply is while your skin is still damp so that you can lock in that much needed hydration.
7. Eat well and drink your water!
It starts from the inside. A well nourished body will not only feel great but look great too. Your skin will have a dewy glow when you’re well hydrated.
8. Treat your neck as an extension to your face.
Yes, your neck skin can be even thinner than the skin on your face! It can be more prone to showing signs of age, so let’s take care of it too.
9. Use those vitamin serums!
Face serums are necessary for a holistic skin care routine. They offer so many benefits in correcting skin concerns. From dull acne prone skin to exfoliating your skin you have so many options to help correct your needs and maintain beautiful glowing skin at all times.
10. Don’t touch your face and clean your makeup brushes regularly.
This will help with NOT spreading bacteria, which can lead to breakouts. It’ll also help to prevent the spreading of some sicknesses!
Having great skin is only a few choices away! Start by implement a few of these at a time and you'll soon be on your way to having great skin that'll look great in your senior pictures and last!
